Let the Good Times Roll

One car sold. One in the wings waiting to sell with 2 potential buyers. Two new jobs! Ok, so the house is still sitting, with no offers in sight but I have to look at the bright side here (especially so right now because I am SO depressed about the Red Wings. But I’m not going into that right now).

In honor of Hubs finally getting the job deal he has wanted for so long, I decided to get crazy with the cheeze whiz (not really) and make us some cobb salad with crab and homemade green goddess dressing. Turns out that dressing is easier (and healthier) than I once thought it would be. As for the salad? I feel like that’s a duh. I mean, who can’t make a cobb salad? Start the food porno music: boom-chicka-bow-wow!

Green goddess dressing. Looks nasty. Tastes delicious.

It’s really just a bunch of taragon, garlic, lemon juice, salt and pepper and instead of buttermilk I used greek yogurt. Thanks, Ina Garten! Whirl it up in your blender and you’re done.

And because I can’t help myself, I also made asparagus.

We were in a celebratory mood so we also cracked open an Australian white–crisp and citrusy and not too much sweetness. Just the way I like it.

How appropriate! Woop Woop!

All together now:

 Not too shabby if I do say so myself.

Do you ever make your own salad dressing? I never did until I met my husband and now it’s all we do. You won’t find a bottle of pre-made dressing in our fridge.

  1. Shock and awe here, but I don’t use salad dressing. When I’m home I love huge salads with either smashed avocado (a whole one), cottage cheese or plain Greek yogurt, nutritional yeast or nothing at all. I know, I’m a weirdo.

    But more important, yay! Congrats on the job situation and I expect moving details via email if you feel like bragging. Big yay!

    • The fact that you use no salad dressing makes me like you even more (in a non-creepy way, of course) 🙂

      In that same vein, I love a big greek salad with tons of hummus instead of dressing. Delish.
